Ok have you ever seen the show Hoarders? Well if you haven’t it’s a show about people who hoard stuff, all kinds of stuff in their homes. I even saw one episode where a women had so much stuff in her home she had to sleep on the floor and was in jeopardy of being evicted because her home was a fire hazard! Terrible, right? I know, I know. You are probably wondering what this has to do with any of the lessons I teach or topics I talk about, but wait you’ll see.
“Some people think that it’s holding on that makes you strong, but sometimes it’s just letting go.” – Unknown
I used to live across the street from an old man who had a car that was always filled up to the windows with stuff he never took out. In fact it was so full of stuff that his car could barely get down the street. Now as I write this I wonder, Is that how my mind is, weighted down with stuff from the past and old feelings? Feelings and thoughts that are holding you back in life. You may not think of yourself as a hoarder, but you just might be. You are a hoarder if you hold on to feelings of hurt, pain, fear, sadness, guilt, jealously, lack or hate. All those feelings are negative and hold you back in life. I can honesty say I let go of the junk I had been holding onto for years I am now able to live. Those feelings are all valid feelings, but still hold you under water, unable to breathe life into the heart of your desires.
Thankfully we have free will so we can choose to live how we want so choosing happiness, joy, love, peace, faith, abundance, forgiveness and letting go of the negative junk in our minds will ultimately free us from the bondage we have been holding ourselves in. It doesn’t matter if life up to this point isn’t what you wanted. Let go of those thoughts and feelings and adopt thoughts and feelings more like what you desire. Throw out that old negative ”stuff” in your mind and your life will thank you.
Negative and positive will not co-exist, so getting rid of the negative junk in our mind and heart will clear up space for more of the good stuff, and we are always looking for ways to have more of the good stuff. More joy, happiness, peace and abundance. If you want it you can have it, if you will make room for it.
How to make room for the good suff? This may be easy or difficult that is up to you. Repetition of good thoughts will conquer old thoughts. What I am talking about are affirmations of positive thoughts and actions.
1. Every time you have negative thought, feeling or action – recognize it, dismiss it and replace it with the exact opposite positive thought, feeling or action. Do that every time you have a negative thought, feeling or action.
2. Clear your mind of thought through meditation several times a day.
3. Recite or listen to affirmations throughout the day to get you thinking positively on a regular basis
4. Align yourself with the good stuff by seeking out things, places or event that resemble what you desire to bring into you life
Last thought – Out with the old and in with the new.
